The draft final declaration of the NATO summit in Ankara includes the recognition of Russia as a threat to Euro-Atlantic security and long-term military support for Ukraine. The document also contains commitments from European allies and Canada to provide Ukraine with 140 billion euros in military assistance over 2026-2027.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the publication, the draft declaration for the NATO summit, which will take place on July 7-8 in Ankara, is in the final stages of approval. The allies plan to complete discussions on the document on July 3.<\/p>\n

The text of the declaration plans to retain the wording used in previous Alliance documents, stating that Russia poses a threat to Euro-Atlantic security.<\/p>\n

“The draft declaration of the NATO summit in Ankara is currently in the final stage of approval, the allies would like to conclude the discussions today, July 3,” a source from “European Pravda” reported.<\/p>\n

One of the new theses of the document will be the definition of Ukraine not only as a recipient of security assistance, but also as a “provider” of security for NATO’s European allies.<\/p>\n

A key part of the Ukrainian bloc in the declaration is a commitment to long-term defense support for Ukraine, proposed by Germany. The document stipulates that European allies and Canada will provide Ukraine with \u20ac70 billion in military assistance each in 2026 and 2027, for a total of \u20ac140 billion.<\/p>\n

According to the publication’s sources, this issue has caused the most discussion among individual European Union states, which did not want to take on additional financial obligations. At the same time, the interlocutors of “European Truth” note that the allies have now managed to reach an agreement to preserve this norm in the final version of the document.<\/p>\n

The publication clarifies that the commitment of 70 billion euros per year will apply only to European NATO members and Canada. This is not about additional funds, but about the total amount of military support, which will include, in particular, the defense part of the European Union’s 90 billion euro loan and bilateral military assistance to Ukraine from European allies and Canada.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that NATO countries are preparing to announce new decisions on support for Ukraine<\/a> . At the Alliance summit, which will be held on July 7-8 in Ankara, the allies may agree on new defense contracts, increased weapons production, and continued military assistance to Kyiv.<\/p>\n
