The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has determined the location for the Ukrainian National Pantheon. It is planned to be located on the grounds of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Preserve.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The corresponding government resolution was developed by the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance.<\/p>\n

The document provides for the development of the concept and structure of the pantheon, the definition of forms of memorialization, and the holding of expert and public discussions.<\/p>\n

Together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance will conduct the verification of Ukrainian independence fighters and other prominent figures who made a significant contribution to the formation of Ukrainian national consciousness. The possibility of reburial of individuals and their family members buried outside of Ukraine within the Pantheon will also be considered.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine will determine a specific location for the Pantheon within the reserve, taking into account cultural heritage protection requirements, land restrictions, and Ukraine’s international obligations. Furthermore, the Ministry will hold an architectural competition for the best design for the memorial complex, involving architects, historians, art historians, government officials, the public, international organizations, and religious communities.<\/p>\n

The creation, development, and subsequent maintenance of the Ukrainian National Pantheon will be financed from the state budget and other sources permitted by law.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the introduction of a bill on the Ukrainian National Pantheon to the Verkhovna Rada<\/a> .<\/p>\n

The Verkhovna Rada supported the bill No. 15360 introduced by the President<\/a> on the creation of the Ukrainian National Pantheon.<\/p>\n

It is also noted that Poland will not support Ukraine’s accession to the European Union<\/a> unless Kyiv reconsider its approach to honoring OUN and UPA figures, in particular Stepan Bandera.<\/p>\n
