A fatal road accident occurred on the Kyiv-Odesa highway near the village of Radisne, Berezivskyi district, Odessa region. An 80-year-old local resident died after being hit by a truck, and the police have opened a criminal investigation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is reported by<\/a> the Odessa region police.<\/p>\n

It is noted that the traffic accident occurred on the evening of July 5 at around 10:00 p.m. on the Kyiv-Odesa highway near the village of Radisne.<\/p>\n

According to preliminary data, a 38-year-old driver of a truck with a trailer, a resident of the Vinnytsia region, driving towards Odessa, hit an 80-year-old local woman who was crossing the roadway in an unspecified place.<\/p>\n

The woman died at the scene as a result of her injuries. The driver was tested for intoxication and was found to be sober.<\/p>\n

Traffic accident investigators, the investigative and operational group of the territorial police unit, and patrol police officers worked at the scene of the accident.<\/p>\n

Investigators entered information into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine on the fact of violation of road safety rules or vehicle operation, which caused the death of the victim.<\/p>\n

The body of the deceased was sent for forensic examination to determine the exact cause of death. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the traffic accident.<\/p>\n

The police have urged road users to strictly follow the Rules of the Road. Pedestrians are advised to cross the roadway only in designated areas, and drivers are advised to carefully monitor the road conditions and maintain a safe speed.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, a fatal road accident involving a passenger minibus and a truck occurred<\/a> in the Mykolaiv region. Nine people died and eight more were injured as a result of the accident.<\/p>\n
