The United States has resumed strikes on Iran and announced a new military operation aimed at limiting Tehran’s ability to threaten shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Global oil prices have risen again amid the escalating conflict.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Washington said the additional strikes were aimed at weakening Iran’s ability to impede the free passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, and the United States has also blamed Tehran for recent attacks on merchant ships and civilian crews in the region.<\/p>\n

On the eve of the meeting, US President Donald Trump announced that the framework agreement with Iran on the cessation of hostilities had effectively expired, and warned of possible new large-scale strikes on the critical infrastructure of the Islamic Republic.<\/p>\n

According to the American side, on the evening of July 7, the United States struck more than 80 targets in Iran in response to a series of attacks on merchant ships in the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n

The new escalation has already had an impact on the oil market. According to Reuters, oil prices have risen by more than 1%. Brent crude futures have risen to almost $79 per barrel, while US WTI has risen to more than $74 per barrel.<\/p>\n
