The European Parliament directly demands that the Ukrainian authorities lift the illegal sanctions against Petro Poroshenko.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lawyer Ihor Golovan wrote<\/a> about this in his blog on the Ukrainian Press.<\/p>\n

“According to the Constitution of Ukraine: the president is the guarantor of the implementation of the state’s strategic course for Ukraine’s full membership in the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. The Cabinet of Ministers ensures the implementation of the state’s strategic course for Ukraine’s full membership in the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization,” the lawyer reminded.<\/p>\n

“The answer to the question of how successfully the President guarantees and the Cabinet ensures is found in a recent resolution of the European Parliament, which is specifically dedicated to the issues of Ukraine’s accession to the EU. The European Parliament calls on the Ukrainian authorities to refrain from politically motivated prosecutions; not to introduce personal sanctions against opposition representatives; not to introduce personal sanctions against civil society leaders, as such a practice undermines democratic standards and public trust,” Golovan emphasized.<\/p>\n

“Europeans are no longer hinting. They are directly demanding, calling things by their proper names. And if our authorities do not listen, they may well slam the European door in our face,” he noted.<\/p>\n

“We won’t have to wait long for the next exam. On July 10, the Supreme Court is to announce a decision in the case on the cancellation of the personal sanctions against Petro Poroshenko, which are directly mentioned in the resolution,” the lawyer noted.<\/p>\n
