The Russian military is attacking energy infrastructure using groups of 20-25 drones at a time. The number of hits has increased by 36% compared to the first half of last year.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by Ukrinform with reference to the Chairman of the Board of NPC Ukrenergo, Vitaliy Zaichenko, who spoke at the forum “Decentralized Generation in Ukraine 2.0”.<\/p>\n

According to him, since the start of the full-scale war, the number of drones that Russia launches at one energy facility has increased from 3-4 to 20-25 per attack.<\/p>\n

In addition, the Russian Federation carries out complex attacks aimed at simultaneously destroying both generating capacities and electricity transportation systems.<\/p>\n

“The losses of Ukrenergo alone have already approached UAH 90 billion. The number of damages is increasing, especially this year – by 36% compared to the first half of last year,” Zaichenko said.<\/p>\n

He emphasized that Ukraine has currently lost about 50% of its electricity generation capacity. Shunting generation has suffered the most.<\/p>\n

It is also reported that due to power outages caused by Russian attacks, NPC Ukrenergo lost UAH 4 billion in revenue.<\/p>\n

“In January-April of this year, forced power supply restrictions reduced actual electricity consumption by approximately 6.5 billion kWh. This is equivalent to approximately 1,135 days of average consumption in a city like Kyiv. Such a reduction reduces Ukrenergo’s revenues,” Zaichenko noted.<\/p>\n

The official explained that the lack of revenue necessitates the revision of tariffs for electricity transmission and dispatching. According to Ukrenergo’s calculations, since the beginning of 2026, the amount of revenue shortfall has reached UAH 4 billion.<\/p>\n

In addition, Ukraine’s energy system faces other challenges: increasing electricity consumption in certain regions, the need to integrate renewable energy sources, and ensuring stable operation of the system in the face of constant Russian attacks.<\/p>\n

Zaichenko emphasized that the development of new generating capacities is not only an economic issue for Ukraine, but also an issue of energy security.<\/p>\n

The head of Ukrenergo also provided data on the scale of power outages due to Russian attacks. Thus, in January of this year, an average of 6.1 million metering points were simultaneously left without power, in February \u2014 6.5 million, and in March \u2014 3.8 million.<\/p>\n

“The actual number of people left without electricity was greater,” Zaichenko noted.<\/p>\n

According to him, the largest number of simultaneously powerless consumers was recorded on February 8 \u2014 more than 12 million.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that consumers in several regions of Ukraine are without electricity due to Russian shelling and bad weather<\/a> . Emergency crews are already working to restore power supply.<\/p>\n
