The Supreme Court, under pressure from the authorities, refused to lift illegal sanctions against opposition leader Petro Poroshenko – a decision that would block Ukraine’s membership in the EU.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Petro Poroshenko said this after the court session. He thanked everyone who expressed support during the process, which dragged on for a year and a half.<\/p>\n

“The judges of this five were blackmailed, including their relatives, by initiating criminal cases if the wrong decision is made. I will file a complaint with law enforcement agencies in this regard. We will provide journalists with materials for a journalistic investigation. And society has the right to know how Ukraine is being blocked from joining the European Union,” Poroshenko said.<\/p>\n

“In the last week alone, four basic documents have been adopted. This is the European Parliament Resolution, which states in black and white that the application of sanctions against the opposition leader is illegal, extrajudicial and unconstitutional. The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly adopted a corresponding decision the day before yesterday, which recognizes extrajudicial, illegal and unconstitutional sanctions against residents of Ukraine and citizens of Ukraine as illegal,” he recalled.<\/p>\n

Poroshenko also recalled the statement of the European People’s Party that the sanctions against the opposition leader are illegal and hinder Ukraine’s path to Europe.<\/p>\n

“I am in Ukraine, I have not been going anywhere and I am not going to leave, despite the insistent advice of the authorities. I am fighting for Ukraine and for its European future. I have not surrendered the interests of the people who voted for me and continue to support me,” he stressed.<\/p>\n

“Today, those who are trying to build authoritarianism in Ukraine instead of democracy have achieved their goal. Seven clusters will not be opened to us. And when you explain why they are not open, do not say that it is because there is a new Prime Minister of Hungary, Mr. Magyar, or the President of Poland, Mr. Nawrocki. Do not explain that there are some right-wing radical movements in Germany, France,” the fifth President of Ukraine said.<\/p>\n

“The reason for this is today’s decision. And for us, except for the foreign policy cluster, unfortunately, with a high degree of probability, the clusters will not be open in July. Because of you, the disrespectful SBU officers, because of you, the disrespectful employees of the President’s Office who deal with sanctions. I really hoped that the era of Portnov was over. Portnov died ingloriously, but his cause lives on. I really hoped that after Yermak was thrown out of the President’s Office, the era of the Yermakivshchyna ended along with the weekly meetings they held on Bankova Street on how to persecute and imprison Poroshenko. No. Yermak’s spirit remained on Bankova Street. His so-called team, his junk are sitting and forming obstacles to our European integration,” he noted.<\/p>\n

Poroshenko noted that Ukraine received the status of candidate for EU membership due to the victims of Mariupol and Bucha, thanks to the unprecedented heroism of Ukrainian soldiers. \u201cWe will defend Ukraine. Therefore, right now from here, despite the sanctions that prevent me, I will go to present 62 units of equipment to 14 brigades,\u201d said the fifth President.<\/p>\n
