According to MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, 4 possible candidates for the position of Prime Minister are currently being considered.

He wrote about this in Telegram .

According to Zheleznyak, among the possible candidates for the position of head of government are being considered:

Chairman of Naftogaz of Ukraine Serhiy Koretsky;

First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal;

Minister of Defense Mikhail Fedorov;

Mayor of Kharkiv Igor Terekhov.

At the same time, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that he held a meeting with the head of Naftogaz of Ukraine, Serhiy Koretsky, and highly appreciated the results of his work.

“Report by Serhiy Koretsky. I am grateful for his effective work at the head of strategic Ukrainian state companies – Ukrnafta and Naftogaz. This is an extremely complex area with a large intersection of interests, and it is important that Serhiy ensured that Ukraine’s national interests were observed in the activities of these companies. Both Ukrnafta and Naftogaz achieved the specified indicators of national results,” Zelensky said.

The President noted that during the meeting, they also discussed new challenges related to Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, gas stations, and other facilities, as well as steps to strengthen the state’s resilience within the framework of an updated political strategy.

After that, Zheleznyak noted that Koretsky’s chances for the post of Prime Minister are very high.

“It’s 95% resolved now,” he said .

Later, the MP added that an hour ago he gave Koretsky’s chances for the post of prime minister 95%, but as of 4:00 p.m. it was already 99% .

Zelensky also held a meeting with Denys Shmyhal, at which they discussed urgent needs for protecting energy and strategic infrastructure facilities throughout Ukraine.

“The implementation of the resilience plans of Ukrainian regions and communities must be of equal quality, and lagging behind in one or another region means a threat to people’s lives,” Zelenskyy said.

The President noted that Ukraine has strong intergovernmental agreements with partners, particularly in the areas of energy and reconstruction, but they require timely implementation.

“The agreements reached today are not enough, so we discussed what exactly we need to focus on in the coming weeks and months. Ukraine must become stronger, and we can ensure this,” he added.

What is known about possible candidates?

Serhiy Koretsky was born in 1978 in Lutsk. Since 2025, he has headed NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, before that he headed Ukrnafta and Ukrtatnafta. Previously, he worked as the general director of the WOG gas station network, and also headed the Swiss energy trading company Centurion Group SA. He graduated from Lutsk State Technical University.

Denys Shmyhal was born in 1975 in Lviv. Since 2026, he has held the position of First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Energy. In 2025-2026, he was the Minister of Defense, and in 2020-2025, he headed the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, becoming the longest-serving Prime Minister in the history of independent Ukraine. Before working in the government, he headed the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration and worked in the public and private sectors.

Mykhailo Fedorov was born in 1991 in Zaporizhia region. Since 2026, he has been the Minister of Defense of Ukraine. Before that, he headed the Ministry of Digital Transformation, was Deputy Prime Minister and First Deputy Prime Minister. In 2019, he was elected as a People’s Deputy from the Servant of the People party, but after being appointed to the government, he resigned from his deputy mandate.

Igor Terekhov was born in 1967. Previously, he held the positions of First Deputy Mayor of Kharkiv, Deputy Head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, and worked in the field of local government and business.

Other possible personnel changes in the government

MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak also reported that Yulia Svyrydenko, after her resignation, may remain in the government team and receive the position of Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States.

“Svyrydenko remains in the team. But he will be the ambassador to the US. All the rumors that someone had a fight there are rumors,” the deputy noted.

Zheleznyak also claims that personnel changes will not be limited to the Cabinet of Ministers.

“As part of this “reboot”, there will be many replacements. That is, there will be a broader package than the Cabinet of Ministers. Many ministers will be replaced,” he said.

At the same time, the deputy expressed the opinion that such changes would not lead to political instability.

“I don’t believe that this will trigger any political instability. I am convinced that the votes for the new government will be gathered,” Zheleznyak added.

In addition, according to the MP, his sources report possible further personnel changes . In particular, he noted that currently there are only rumors about the possible nomination of a new head of the SBU and the preparation of a replacement for the head of the State Bureau of Investigation.

At the same time, Zheleznyak emphasized that he had no confirmation of this information, and also suggested that the future appointments of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Defense, which are determined upon the proposal of the president, could become a separate intrigue .

As is known, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced a change in the state’s political strategy and announced personnel changes in the government and law enforcement agencies .
