A 52-year-old man died in Poltava Oblast after being hospitalized in serious condition at the Kremenchuk District Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The circumstances of his death are being established<\/a> by investigators from the State Bureau of Investigation.<\/p>\n

According to preliminary reports, on the evening of July 2, police stopped a car driven by a man. During the investigation, officers discovered he was intoxicated.<\/p>\n

On the night of July 3, the man was taken to the Kremenchuk Regional Center for Cardiology and Emergency Medicine, where he remained until July 4. He was then transferred in serious condition to the intensive care unit of a Kremenchuk hospital. He underwent surgery on July 5, but died on July 9.<\/p>\n

According to the medical certificate, the cause of death was a closed head injury, a basal skull fracture, and hemorrhages under the membranes and brain tissue. Preliminary information suggests these injuries could have been caused by a blunt object.<\/p>\n

A criminal case has been opened on this fact under Part 5 of Article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine \u2013 abuse of power or official authority by a military official committed under martial law.<\/p>\n

State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) investigators are currently establishing a complete chronology of events, determining the circumstances under which the man sustained his injuries, and investigating the possible involvement of individuals. As part of the investigation, CCTV footage has already been seized, employees of the territorial recruitment center are being questioned, and documents and other materials are being reviewed. Investigators are also reviewing the actions of all individuals who had contact with the man from the time he was stopped by police until his hospitalization.<\/p>\n

The pre-trial investigation continues.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, the State Bureau of Investigation opened a criminal investigation following media reports about possible violations of the rights of service members of the Skala assault regiment.<\/a><\/p>\n
