{"id":1417427,"date":"2026-07-14T11:04:11","date_gmt":"2026-07-14T08:04:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/prm.ua\/ukraine-and-the-eu-have-opened-a-new-stage-of-accession-negotiations\/"},"modified":"2026-07-14T11:04:11","modified_gmt":"2026-07-14T08:04:11","slug":"ukraine-and-the-eu-have-opened-a-new-stage-of-accession-negotiations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prm.ua\/en\/ukraine-and-the-eu-have-opened-a-new-stage-of-accession-negotiations\/","title":{"rendered":"Ukraine and the EU have opened a new stage of accession negotiations."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>At the Ukraine-European Union intergovernmental conference, Cluster 6 of the negotiations on Ukraine&#8217;s accession to the EU, entitled &#8220;External Relations,&#8221; was officially opened.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> This was announced by the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos.<\/p>\n<p> This cluster includes issues of common foreign policy, security and defense, international trade, humanitarian aid and development cooperation.<\/p>\n<p> EU member states agreed on the first negotiating cluster for Ukraine&#8217;s accession to the European Union on June 15. However, the opening of clusters is not scheduled; their consideration depends on the candidate state&#8217;s progress in implementing the necessary reforms.<\/p>\n<p> Despite the support of all 27 EU member states for the start of the negotiation process, Hungary long blocked it. Former Prime Minister Viktor Orb\u00e1n consistently opposed Ukraine&#8217;s progress toward European integration.<\/p>\n<p> Following the parliamentary elections, the new government led by P\u00e9ter Magyar announced a more pragmatic approach to this issue, although it has not yet expressed open support for Ukraine&#8217;s accession to the EU.
