The United States has begun the process of granting Ukraine a license to produce Patriot missiles, moving the issue from the political realm to practical implementation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported on July 15 by the Kyiv Independent<\/a> , citing a Ukrainian official familiar with the negotiations.<\/p>\n

According to the publication’s source, Lockheed Martin, the American defense company that produces Patriot missiles, supports the transfer of the relevant license to Ukraine. He also expressed confidence that the process will not take several months, as previously expected.<\/p>\n

This information emerged following US President Donald Trump’s statement on July 8, in which he announced his readiness to satisfy Ukraine’s long-standing request to organize the production of American Patriot missiles.<\/p>\n

Patriot interceptor missiles remain a key means of defending Ukrainian skies from Russian ballistic missiles. However, their stockpiles are limited due to high demand caused by both Russia’s war against Ukraine and the escalating situation in the Middle East.<\/p>\n

The launch of production of such missiles in Ukraine should strengthen the capabilities of the domestic defense industry and reduce dependence on supplies from the United States.<\/p>\n

Currently, besides the United States, only Japan and Germany have licenses to produce Patriot missiles.<\/p>\n

“For the first time, Ukraine is approaching the capability to produce missiles for the Patriot system,” President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said during celebrations marking Ukrainian Statehood Day in Kyiv.<\/p>\n

As reported by Pryamoy, on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara, US President Donald Trump promised to grant Ukraine a license<\/a> to produce missiles for Patriot anti-aircraft systems.<\/p>\n
