This operation has a complex impact on the course of the war.

It’s worth noting that the occupiers previously used Crimea as a key logistics base, stockpiling fuel and lubricants, ammunition, and personnel for rotations. Military equipment from the occupying country’s rear areas was also shipped there by rail and car ferries.

It should be noted that over the past week, the Ukrainian intelligence community has carried out a number of successful strikes on important enemy military facilities on the peninsula.

Specifically, special forces from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense destroyed a modern Russian Kasta-2E2 radar station, which was used for airspace monitoring. Additionally, six fuel tankers were destroyed, significantly complicating the enemy’s logistics.

Ukrainian intelligence also targeted rail transport: two freight locomotives and three fuel tankers were disabled. This caused significant losses in fuel supplies to Russian troops. The GUR also noted the destruction of military equipment on a train, which disrupted the enemy’s plans to transfer forces and resources to the front lines.

Due to the regular defeats of the Crimean Bridge, the enemy has begun to rely entirely on seaborne deliveries of fuel and equipment, which are now actively paralyzing Ukrainian forces.

Dozens of Russian “shadow fleet” vessels have been damaged in the seas off the coast of Crimea and in the Sea of Azov. Enemy tankers, bulk carriers, logistics ferries, and seagoing tugboats have come under fire. Furthermore, significant damage has been recorded to the land-based oil terminal in the port of Kerch.

Along with the fuel shortage, the Main Intelligence Directorate and related units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces are creating a total energy crisis for enemy military installations. Attack drones have successfully destroyed at least five electrical substations on the peninsula. Systematic strikes have knocked out power to major military hubs (particularly the Saky and Yevpatoria regions), paralyzing repair bases and air defense systems.

The systematic destruction of train ferries in Kerch and bridges across the isthmuses has forced the occupiers to redirect supplies to the land corridor through the Sea of Azov. This route lies close to the front line and is under constant fire control by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Logistics chokepoints (the Chongar Bridge, the Henichesk ferry) and the R-280 “Novorossiya” highway are under constant attack by Ukrainian drones.

Currently, thanks to the successful actions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces and the Ukrainian intelligence community, Crimea has lost its key importance as a logistical hub for Russian occupation forces. This has led to serious consequences for occupation forces directly on the front lines in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia oblasts.

Thus, in the Zaporizhzhia region, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out a successful counterattack and repelled Russian troops in the areas of the villages of Maliyevka, Yanvarske, Novoheorghiyevka, and Zaporizhzhia. More than 33 square kilometers of territory came under Ukrainian fire control.

In the Kherson region, Ukrainian forces hold dominant heights on the right bank. Russian attempts to consolidate their positions on the islands in the Dnieper delta and establish new footholds are quickly thwarted by massive artillery and FPV drone strikes.

Due to shortages of fuel, ammunition, and equipment caused by the logistical blockade, Russian troop groups in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson sectors are forced to limit the use of artillery and armored vehicles during assaults. The disruption of supplies from Crimea to the southern front has already led to a drop in the enemy artillery fire ratio from 2.4:1 to 1.6:1.

Following the de facto blockade of occupied Crimea, which has now become a completely isolated island, the occupiers and the temporarily occupied territories of the Mykolaiv region, particularly the Kinburn Spit, are facing serious logistical problems.

However, in addition to the military component, the blockade of the peninsula also has political significance.

This is, first and foremost, increasing Ukraine’s role in the negotiation process. I don’t rule out that the Crimea issue will be key to economic and political pressure from both Ukraine and the United States. This concerns the possible de-occupation of areas in the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions. I don’t rule out the possibility that the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant issue will be raised, specifically the proposal to create an international consortium, which would effectively entail the transfer of the largest nuclear power plant. into external management.

For years, the Kremlin has positioned Crimea as a symbol of eternal and unwavering Russian power. Successful Ukrainian attacks on the Black Sea Fleet headquarters, the Crimean Bridge, and airfields demonstrate to Russian society and the elite the Putin regime’s inability to protect even key sacred sites.

The occupation authorities are forced to expend colossal financial resources on rebuilding oil depots and bridges, compensating businesses, and constantly demolishing new air defense systems, which are rapidly being destroyed. Crimea’s tourism industry, which fostered an image of “peaceful development,” has been effectively destroyed.

The constant threat and lack of security are driving the outflow of the population loyal to the Kremlin, as well as the families of Russian military personnel and officials, back to the territory of the occupying country, demoralizing local occupation administrations.

Also follow “Pryamy” on Facebook , X , Telegram and Instagram.

• Materials published in the “THOUGHTS” section reflect the opinion of the author of the publication, who bears full responsibility for the accuracy of the information.
• The editorial board of prm.ua may not share the opinions expressed in the author’s material.
• The owner of the web page in the “THOUGHTS” section is the author of the publication.

The blockade of Crimea by the Ukrainian Defense Forces is a strategic military campaign aimed at transforming the peninsula from a powerful base of aggression into a vulnerable, isolated enclave.
