Half of the ministers were either suspected of being involved in Mindichgate, or directly involved in corruption. For seven long months, parliament ignored our demand. And only the day before yesterday was it finally able to dismiss the former corrupt government,&#8221; Poroshenko recalled.<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;Yesterday, Parliament experienced a strange day, one that should have given the country answers, but instead left only questions. And the most important of these is this: how can a country, living in a full-scale war for the fifth year in a row, afford to remain without a Minister of Defense, a Minister of Foreign Affairs, and a Head of the Security Service of Ukraine legally appointed by Parliament? <strong>The Minister of Defense today is the Minister of War<\/strong> . A person who makes daily decisions that affect the lives of Ukrainian soldiers, the supply of the front, and coordination with military partners. <strong>The Minister of Foreign Affairs today is the voice of the state in the world<\/strong> . This is the person who daily negotiates weapons, sanctions, financial support, and Ukraine&#8217;s future in NATO and the European Union,&#8221; the fifth President noted.<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;Such positions cannot exist in a &#8216;temporary&#8217; mode. They cannot be governed by telephone or oral instructions. These are constitutional positions, possessing unconditional political and legal legitimacy. This is precisely why the law describes the procedure for appointing the country&#8217;s leaders. <strong>Order is the rules that must be observed by everyone, not the construction of a police state for a society<\/strong> that has been living in a full-scale war for five years now, hiding its defenders daily, and paying the ultimate price for freedom,&#8221; Petro Poroshenko emphasized.<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;Ukraine today has no shortage of people capable of heading the Ministry of Defense. Society has long established authorities trusted by the military, volunteers, and millions of Ukrainians\u2014people like General Zaluzhny, Minister Fedorov, General Drapatiy, and many others. But <strong>the state must stop postponing decisions essential to effectively governing the country during a war<\/strong> . And these decisions must be absolutely, impeccably legitimate,&#8221; the party leader insisted.<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;Therefore <strong>, it is unacceptable that parliament, for some reason, decides today, when it has not yet formed a government, to withdraw from its work and go on vacation<\/strong> . Decisions remain under consideration that are essential for strengthening the state&#8217;s defense, continuing or even beginning military reform, improving the mobilization system, and finally fulfilling the country&#8217;s commitments to European integration,&#8221; Poroshenko noted.<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;Among them is <strong>a reboot of the State Bureau of Investigation<\/strong> , which our European partners have not only long awaited but are now demanding. This is especially true given that journalists, despite an absurd court order, have published an investigation into the possible illegal enrichment of the family of the SBI&#8217;s head. If the reported facts are true, independent anti-corruption agencies are obliged to launch an investigation without delay. If this is not done, the faction will help. Since some are being sanctioned without trial, others cannot enjoy immunity simply because they are in power. The law must be the same for everyone. Because order is rules that must be observed by everyone,&#8221; Petro Poroshenko emphasized.<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;So, we, the European Solidarity faction, demand that Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Stefanchuk <strong>immediately convene an extraordinary plenary session<\/strong> . Hear the people who have taken to the streets with their demands, including to the deputies. <strong>The President of Ukraine\u2014we appeal\u2014must submit to parliament a proposal to appoint the Minister of Defense, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine<\/strong> . And these candidates must be respected, authoritative, and trusted by society. Because war doesn&#8217;t take a break. Russian missiles don&#8217;t postpone their strikes until August. Therefore, neither the state nor the parliament should take a break.
