According to him, they should undergo an individual asylum procedure and, in the absence of other legal grounds for stay, leave the country.

This is reported by Welt .

Dobrindt said that Ukrainian men of military age should not automatically receive temporary protection under the EU Mass Inflow Directive. In his opinion, evasion of military service cannot be a basis for automatically granting such status.

The minister noted that, unlike Ukrainians, Syrian citizens underwent an individual procedure for considering asylum applications.

“In the future, men of military age from Ukraine should not be subject to this directive. The possibility of applying for asylum, of course, remains,” Dobrindt said.

According to him, such applications should be considered individually in accordance with the asylum procedure.

The minister also stated that if automatic temporary protection is abolished, Ukrainian men of military age will be able to remain in Germany only if they have other legal grounds. If there are no such grounds, they will have to leave the country.

“From a political point of view, I also think it’s appropriate for a country that we support militarily to a large extent, so that it can organize resistance to Putin’s aggressive war. This cannot be compared to the civil war in Syria,” Dobrindt said.

By the way, new rules for providing social assistance to the unemployed have come into effect in Germany . The authorities have tightened requirements for those receiving benefits so that more people return to work. For refusal to find work or violation of the conditions, benefits can be reduced or even canceled completely.

It was previously reported that Ukraine and Germany are discussing within the working group a mechanism for the return of Ukrainians of mobilization age who illegally left abroad.

We will remind you that European countries are gradually changing their approach to the stay of Ukrainians who left due to the war . The State Migration Service of Ukraine says that EU countries are increasingly trying not to increase the number of Ukrainian citizens on their territory and are reviewing the rules of temporary protection.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , X , Telegram , and Instagram.

German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt has proposed changing the rules for granting temporary protection to Ukrainian men of military age in European Union countries.
