Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine prevented a terrorist attack in the center of Mykolaiv and detained an agent of the Russian special services who tried to plant an explosive device under the car of a Ukrainian serviceman. According to the investigation, in addition to preparing the attack, he also carried out other tasks for the Russian Federation, in particular, helping with the registration of Starlink satellite terminals for the needs of the occupiers.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The special services noted that the attacker was detained “red-handed” when he was planting an improvised explosive device under a military vehicle.<\/p>\n

“The SBU counterintelligence prevented another terrorist attack in Mykolaiv. As a result of preemptive actions, a Russian agent was detained who was preparing to kill a Defense Forces soldier with a homemade bomb,” the post says.<\/p>\n

According to the SBU, the perpetrator was a conscript from the Bashtanskyi district who had left the military unit without permission. After that, he began looking for quick money in Telegram channels, where he came under the attention of Russian special services.<\/p>\n

The investigation established that the man initially followed the future victim, after which he received the coordinates of a cache of homemade explosives. While trying to plant it under the Ukrainian defender’s car, he was detained by SBU officers.<\/p>\n

In addition, the agent was carrying out another task for Russian handlers \u2013 registering Starlink satellite terminals. To do this, he registered one of the devices in his name, and later tried to involve his wife and ten other drug addicts in the scheme, promising them money for using their personal data.<\/p>\n

The SBU explained that Russian special services planned to use such terminals to coordinate missile, artillery, and drone strikes on Ukrainian military positions in the southern direction.<\/p>\n

During the searches, law enforcement officers seized a mobile phone with evidence of contacts with the Russian curator. The illegally registered Starlink has already been blocked.<\/p>\n

The detainee was informed of suspicion of treason committed under martial law, as well as of a completed attempt to commit a terrorist act. The court chose for him a preventive measure in the form of detention without bail. If proven guilty, he faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, the SBU counterintelligence prevented a large-scale terrorist attack in Ivano-Frankivsk, which, according to the investigation, was being prepared by Russian special services. The occupants planned to carry out two explosions in the courtyard of a residential complex: the first in the parking lot, and the second after rescuers, medics, law enforcement officers, and local residents arrived at the scene<\/a> .<\/p>\n

As reported, the Security Service of Ukraine prevented a terrorist attack in the center of Kyiv by detaining two Russian agents who were preparing an assassination attempt on a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the investigation, the Russian special services planned to blow up the serviceman’s car near Independence Square<\/a> , which could have led to numerous civilian casualties.<\/p>\n
