The US Senate could consider a bill on new sanctions against Russia as early as next week. The bipartisan document, which would increase economic pressure on Moscow, has already been finalized before being put to a vote.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the publication, Democrats have signaled to Republicans that they are ready to support the sanctions package in the coming days. If the bill passes, it would be one of the few examples of bipartisan support for a major decision amid a long political standoff in the US Senate.<\/p>\n

It is expected that the document will be considered after a memorial ceremony for Senator Lindsey Graham, who was the initiator of the bill and actively promoted it until his death, is scheduled for Tuesday at the Capitol.<\/p>\n

Senator Zhanna Shahin called for not delaying the decision.<\/p>\n

“Ukraine is gaining momentum on the battlefield, and the Kremlin’s position is becoming increasingly fragile. It is imperative to act as quickly as possible,” she stressed.<\/p>\n

According to Axios, the bill has already been revised twice. During the revision, the maximum amount of secondary duties was reduced from 500% to 100%, and the possibility of their application was limited to no more than five countries.<\/p>\n

In addition, the publication reports that US President Donald Trump has proposed extending the document to Iran. According to Axios’ sources, this proposal was taken into account when preparing the final version of the bill.<\/p>\n
