SpaceX founder Elon Musk said that the Russian military did not receive Starlink terminals directly from the company, but through smuggled supplies from Ukraine. According to him, after the scheme was discovered, SpaceX, together with Ukrainian authorities, blocked the operation of unauthorized devices.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Elon Musk said that SpaceX never sold Starlink terminals to Russia. According to him, some of the devices were ordered through Ukraine, after which they were illegally transported to temporarily occupied territories controlled by Russian troops.<\/p>\n

“We never sold Starlink to the Russians. They received terminals ordered through Ukraine and then smuggled them into Eastern Ukraine. In some cases, they were used for attacks,” Musk said.<\/p>\n

He reported that to counter this, SpaceX, together with the Ukrainian authorities, introduced a so-called “white list,” which included only verified and authorized terminals. This allowed blocking the operation of unauthorized devices.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Musk noted that due to this decision, some civilian users also lost access to communication, since their terminals were not included in the list of allowed ones.<\/p>\n

The material notes that the use of Starlink by Russian troops has been recorded since 2023. Since the beginning of 2026, according to the data provided, Russian forces began installing terminals directly on drones to provide real-time control.<\/p>\n

It is also reported that, following Ukraine’s request, SpaceX blocked the operation of unauthorized terminals. According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, this deprived Russian units of communications and significantly reduced the intensity of their assaults.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that Russian Rassvet satellites are already capable of creating an alternative communication channel over Ukraine<\/a> for the needs of the Russian army.<\/p>\n

The day before, Russia launched the first communications satellites into orbit that can be used as an alternative to Starlink for the military.<\/a><\/p>\n
