Pyongyang plans to expand its network of agents, make more use of hackers, and develop satellite reconnaissance.

This is reported by The Wall Street Journal .

According to the publication, in recent years, the DPRK has already carried out a number of operations, including a cyberattack on Sony Pictures, the theft of secret US and South Korean military plans, as well as other operations that Western countries associate with North Korean intelligence services.

At the same time, North Korea lags behind leading powers in intelligence capabilities due to a limited network of agents abroad, an insufficient diplomatic presence, and the lack of a developed satellite group.

Last year, the DPRK government reorganized its intelligence service, and now Kim Jong-un is demanding a significant increase in its capabilities. One of the key areas has been identified as the development of satellite intelligence. Currently, the country has only one intelligence satellite, while an orbital network is needed for constant surveillance.

According to the publication, Russia is sharing space expertise with North Korea. Experts believe this could be part of cooperation following Pyongyang’s decision to send its military to support Russia in the war against Ukraine.

Analysts also suggest that North Korea is seeking to deepen cooperation with Russia and China in the areas of intelligence sharing and cyber operations. They estimate that Kim Jong-un’s regime will continue to rely on hacking, espionage and other covert methods of obtaining information.

Recall that North Korea has made amendments to its constitution, which provide for an automatic nuclear strike in the event of the death of the country’s leader Kim Jong-un due to an attack by another state . The new provisions concern actions in the event of a threat to the DPRK’s nuclear force control system.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , X , Telegram , and Instagram.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has announced a massive boost to the country’s military intelligence.
