In Chernivtsi region, law enforcement officers are searching for an armed man who opened fire with a hunting rifle at police officers during an investigation. Two law enforcement officers were injured in the shooting, and the attacker fled into the forest.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by<\/a> the National Police of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred on the morning of July 28 at around 07:45 in the village of Yizhivtsi, Chernivtsi district. According to police, officers arrived at the home of a 54-year-old local resident to conduct investigative actions as part of a criminal case opened on the fact of illegal handling of weapons. <\/p>\n

During the execution of procedural measures, the man fired several times from a hunting rifle at the law enforcement officers, after which he fled towards the forest.<\/p>\n

The police reported that “two police officers were injured as a result of the incident. The victims are receiving necessary medical care.”<\/p>\n

A special police operation was launched in the Chernivtsi region to search for and detain an armed suspect. Additional police forces and resources were involved in the search.<\/p>\n

Law enforcement officers urged residents of the region to be vigilant and, if they have any information about the whereabouts of the wanted person, to immediately call the 102 hotline. At the same time, citizens are asked not to try to detain the armed man on their own.<\/p>\n

Primary investigative and operational search measures are currently underway, and the police promise to provide additional details after the special operation is completed.<\/p>\n
