In the Kirovohrad region, law enforcement officers reported suspicions to two servicemen of the medical company of the “Skelya” regiment, who are suspected of beating and illegally detaining two brothers. According to the investigation, one of the victims was taken to the hospital unconscious after the abuse, while the other was kept in an outbuilding for almost a day.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by the State Bureau of Investigation and the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Defense of the Southern Region.<\/p>\n

According to the investigation, the incident occurred in May 2026 after two servicemen were discharged from the hospital for violating the established regime and sent to the medical unit of the unit. Investigators believe that the 30-year-old driver-electrician and the 28-year-old sanitary instructor decided to independently “punish” their comrades for a disciplinary violation.<\/p>\n

According to law enforcement officials, the suspects struck the soldiers numerous times, then locked them in an outbuilding, where they continued the beating.<\/p>\n

“One of the servicemen lost consciousness. He was hospitalized with a traumatic brain injury, a fractured nasal bone, and other bodily injuries,” the State Bureau of Investigation reported.<\/p>\n

The second victim, according to the investigation, was illegally detained for almost a day. He was later also taken to the hospital with a head injury, numerous bruises and hematomas.<\/p>\n

Both suspects were detained. They are charged with torture and violation of the statutory rules of relations between servicemen, which was accompanied by beatings and abuse of several persons (Part 2 of Article 127, Part 3 of Article 406 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The maximum penalty under these articles is up to 12 years in prison. <\/p>\n

“The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. As part of the proceedings, SBI investigators are also checking individual reports of possible mistreatment of servicemen in the regiment’s deployment and training areas,” the bureau noted. <\/p>\n

As a reminder, the Babel publication reported that at least 26 recruits of the 425th separate assault regiment “Skelya” died from the end of 2025 to the spring of 2026.<\/a><\/p>\n

Subsequently, the 425th Separate Assault Regiment \u201cSkelya\u201d responded to a journalistic investigation into the service in the unit and the death of servicemen<\/a> . The command stated that they were ready to cooperate with the investigation, but urged not to draw conclusions until all checks were completed.<\/p>\n

As reported, employees of the State Bureau of Investigation opened criminal proceedings after media publications about possible violations of the rights of servicemen of the “Skelya” assault regiment.<\/a><\/p>\n

In addition, Yuriy Harkavy, commander of the 425th separate assault regiment \u201cSkel\u201d, was suspended from duty for the duration of the service checks.<\/a> This decision was made after the \u201cBabel\u201d investigation, which discussed possible deaths, torture and abuse of mobilized personnel during training at the regiment\u2019s training centers.<\/p>\n

By the way, in the 425th separate assault regiment “Skelya” during the inspection , a group of instructors was identified who were associated with the abuse of servicemen at training grounds<\/a> . However, according to the Office of the Military Ombudsman, no measures were taken to hold these people accountable.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that the 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skelya” responded to new information in the media about seven more deaths of mobilized personnel during exercises<\/a> . The unit stated that they strive to reduce non-combat losses to zero and are cooperating with law enforcement agencies.<\/p>\n

On July 10, employees of the State Bureau of Investigation detained a serviceman of the 425th separate assault regiment \u201cSkelya\u201d who is suspected of violence against his colleagues<\/a> . The investigation is establishing the circumstances of two incidents that injured a military chaplain and a lieutenant colonel.<\/p>\n
