A crossover exploded in the Peresypsky district of Odessa on the morning of July 28. The explosion injured a 49-year-old driver, and the Security Service of Ukraine has already opened a criminal case under the article about a terrorist act. Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident and searching for those involved.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odessa region and the SBU Directorate in the Odessa region.<\/p>\n

According to preliminary data, the explosion occurred at around 08:00 in one of the courtyards of a multi-storey building on Semena Paliya Street. The victim’s wife contacted the police. It has been previously established that the car detonated immediately after the driver started the engine and began driving.<\/p>\n

“It has been preliminary determined that as soon as the driver started the SUV and began driving, the vehicle exploded,” the police said.<\/p>\n

A 49-year-old man was injured in the explosion. Medics provided him with assistance on the spot, but according to preliminary information, hospitalization was not required.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that according to<\/a> UP sources in law enforcement agencies, the car belongs to a serviceman.<\/p>\n

Initially, an investigative and operational group and police explosives technicians worked at the scene, clarifying all the circumstances of the incident. Subsequently, the Security Service of Ukraine announced that it had classified the explosion as a terrorist act and opened criminal proceedings under Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

“The Security Service, together with the National Police and the Prosecutor’s Office, is conducting comprehensive measures to establish all the circumstances of the incident and the persons involved in its commission,” the SBU said.<\/p>\n

Currently, law enforcement officers are continuing the pre-trial investigation. The Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office is conducting procedural management in the case. The SBU noted that additional details will be reported after the necessary investigative actions are carried out.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine prevented a terrorist attack in the center of Mykolaiv and detained an agent of the Russian special services who tried to plant an explosive device under the car of a Ukrainian serviceman.<\/a> According to the investigation, in addition to preparing the attack, he also performed other tasks for the Russian Federation, in particular, helping with the registration of Starlink satellite terminals for the needs of the occupiers.<\/p>\n
