In addition to the abuse, the occupier extorted money from the victims, forcing their relatives to transfer funds to bank cards under his control.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> This <a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/pgo_gov_ua\/39280\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">was reported<\/a> by the Prosecutor General&#8217;s Office.<\/p>\n<p> According to the investigation, the convict held the position of company commander of the police regiment of the Department of Non-departmental Protection of the National Guard of the Russian Federation. Prosecutors proved that in October 2022, together with his subordinates, he illegally detained a serviceman of the Defense Forces of Ukraine and two civilians in the temporarily occupied territory of the Melitopol region.<\/p>\n<p> The Ukrainian soldier was beaten, intimidated, and threatened with execution by the occupiers. He was also forced to contact his relatives to transfer money to bank cards controlled by the Russian commander.<\/p>\n<p> Two civilians were also subjected to physical and psychological violence. Using a similar scheme, the convict took possession of the funds of the relatives of one of the victims.<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;Prosecutors proved that in October 2022, in the temporarily occupied territory of the Melitopol district, he, together with his subordinates, illegally detained a serviceman of the Defense Forces of Ukraine and two civilians in inhumane conditions,&#8221; the Prosecutor General&#8217;s Office reported.<\/p>\n<p> The court found the Russian commander guilty of cruel treatment of a Ukrainian prisoner of war and civilians under Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and sentenced him to 10 years in prison.<\/p>\n<p> As a reminder, with the assistance of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, law enforcement officers identified <a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/katuvaly-ta-znushchalys-z-ukrainskykh-polonenykh-shche-dvom-rosiianam-oholosyly-pidozru-u-voiennykh-zlochynakh\/\">two more Russian war criminals involved in the torture of Ukrainian prisoners of war<\/a> . They were informed of suspicion of committing war crimes, and the investigation is documenting new episodes of abuse.<\/p>\n<p> As reported, law enforcement officers have identified a Russian serviceman suspected of <a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/rosiyskomu-viyskovomu-oholosyly-pidozru-za-zgvaltuvannia-nepovnolitnoi-na-khersonshchyni\/\">raping an underage girl in the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region<\/a> .
