For 7 years, the only faction that constantly reports is “European Solidarity”. Then “new faces” entered politics. But in 7 years, you could have learned that promises must be kept, and every year report to your voters what you actually did in parliament. This month, the parliament went on vacation without appointing two key ministers in a country that is waging a bloody war. How is this possible?”, said Artur Gerasimov, the acting head of the faction.

The main goal of Eurosolidarity’s activities in parliament is for Ukraine to survive, notes People’s Deputy Rostyslav Pavlenko. “More than 2,500 party members are currently at the front. We know very well the real needs of those who defend us. Therefore, our demands are aimed at increasing payments for servicemen, at increasing spending on weapons purchases. Defense is also about supporting communities. This is a question of properly equipping storage facilities. We advocate a special budget program for this. So that funds are not taken from local governments,” emphasizes Rostyslav Pavlenko.

People’s Deputy Viktoriya Siumar recalled that 7 years ago, the monomajority came to parliament under the sign of renewal of the elites, as new faces, but instead this convocation has become the most closed to society. And closedness breeds corruption, Siumar emphasizes. “Today, Ukrainians say that, along with the war, corruption is the number one problem in the state. If in conditions of war they steal from the defense sector, it weakens us. The war continues, and the price of this is extremely high – these are human lives. It is good that we all managed to defend the independence of the NABU and the SAPO together. And over the past year we have seen examples of successful investigations. But this is definitely not the end, and there are an extraordinary number of them in the defense sector. That is why our faction has been very actively involved in developing an anti-corruption strategy. There must be transparency and maximum openness, because the fate of Ukrainians and the fate of Ukraine directly depend on this. Therefore, this is one of our priorities,” Siumar says.

Co-chair of the “EU” Iryna Gerashchenko recalled that the last year has been very difficult for the faction, which lost Andriy Parubiy and Stepan Kubiv.

She also noted that thanks to the faction’s tough stance, live broadcasts of scheduled meetings and an hour of questions to the government were resumed. “Two weeks ago, we sent a letter to Stefanchuk demanding that he immediately convene a session. The parliament of a warring country cannot go on a political vacation. This is very poorly perceived by society, it discredits the parliament. I don’t know what the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada does, but there is no response to our letter. Zelensky has still not submitted to the parliament the official names of candidates for the positions of key ministers, these are the Minister of Defense and the Minister of Foreign Affairs,” says Gerashchenko.

She stated that the monomajority exists only on paper and has long ceased to provide 226 votes for bills. “They vote together with the ex-OPZZH. It is time to announce the end of the monomajority, which does not exist, to create a coalition of national unity, which will be based on three positions. The first is support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The second is a real, not a facade, fight against corruption. And the third is European integration,” the MP emphasizes.

“Among the necessary bills is a law on rebooting the State Bureau of Investigation. This should not be a bureau of repression. This should be a structure that should ensure a real fight against crime and abuses,” said Gerashchenko.

She also once again called for the return of personal income tax to brigades, the introduction of clear terms of service, an increase in the basic monetary allowance for the military, and the modernization of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: “drones, robots should fight more, anti-shahid systems, electronic warfare systems should work, all this needs to be invested in, but through transparent procurement. Therefore, parliamentary control is our key requirement,” the deputy says.

She also once again called on the authorities to stop blocking the interparliamentary activities of Eurosolidarity deputies. “Today, the country needs responsibility and unity. But the key thing is democracy. Despite the pressure on families and the sanctions against Petro Oleksiyovych, our team defends parliamentarism and democracy in parliament. It is not easy to be in the opposition, but we have something to report on, we have certain successes and victories. We win when our ideas win. The army, language, and faith are today the foundation on which Ukrainian statehood rests,” emphasized Iryna Gerashchenko.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , X , Telegram , and Instagram.

The parliament of a country engaged in a full-scale war cannot afford a political vacation.
