The Command of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that on July 31, an explosion with subsequent detonation occurred at the training ground of one of the military units in the Khmelnytskyi region. The circumstances of the incident are being established, and information about the injured and deceased is being clarified.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by the Command of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

The department reported that the extraordinary event occurred on July 31, 2026, at the territory of a military unit’s training ground in the Khmelnytskyi region. After the explosion, a further detonation occurred.<\/p>\n

Relevant services are currently working on the scene. Priority measures are underway to eliminate the consequences, as well as to establish the circumstances and causes of the incident.<\/p>\n

The SSO Command noted that information about the injured and dead is being clarified. They promise to make additional information public after the completion of priority measures.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that a series of explosions were heard in Khmelnytskyi on the afternoon of July 31<\/a> , despite the absence of an air raid alert in the region. According to preliminary data, there were no casualties, specialized services are working on the scene, and thick smoke rose above the city after the explosions.<\/p>\n

Recall that after the Russian attack in Vyshneve, evacuation points were opened for residents who wish to leave the community<\/a> . Subsequently, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that during the Russian attack on the night of July 6 in Vyshneve, Kyiv region, an ammunition depot of one of the enterprises of \u201cUkroboronprom\u201d was hit<\/a> . According to him, a criminal case was opened after the tragedy, and personnel decisions are expected in the concern.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky instructed the Security Service of Ukraine and other law enforcement agencies to inspect defense industry enterprises after the explosion in Vyshneve<\/a> . The head of state also announced new decisions on security and the restoration of damaged facilities.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, on March 23, 2017, one of the largest ammunition depots in Ukraine exploded in the city of Balakliya, Kharkiv region. At that time, the fire engulfed several storage areas for tank and artillery shells of 125 and 152 mm caliber, and the fire spread to approximately a third of the base’s territory, which covers an area of 368 hectares.<\/p>\n

It later became known that the temporary special commission of the Verkhovna Rada to investigate the explosions at the ammunition depots in Balakliya had prepared its first report<\/a> , which, in particular, questioned the use of drones to blow up the arsenal.<\/p>\n
