The Prosecutor General’s Office announced the launch of an investigation into explosions and subsequent detonation of ammunition at a military training ground in Khmelnytskyi. Four servicemen were injured in the incident, and several more servicemen are currently out of contact.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by the press service<\/a> of the Prosecutor General’s Office.<\/p>\n

According to preliminary data, the incident occurred on July 31, 2026 at around 11:55 a.m. on the territory of a military training ground in Khmelnytskyi. After the explosion, the detonation of ammunition began.<\/p>\n

Four servicemen<\/strong> were injured as a result of the incident. They were hospitalized to a medical facility, where they are receiving necessary medical care. The severity of their injuries is being determined.<\/p>\n

The Prosecutor General’s Office also reported that there is currently no contact with several servicemen<\/strong> who were at the scene. Information about their location is being clarified.<\/p>\n

Law enforcement officers have already begun questioning the command and servicemen of the relevant military unit. An inspection of the scene and primary investigative actions will be conducted after the detonation stops and safe access to the test site is obtained.<\/p>\n

Under the procedural guidance of the Khmelnytskyi Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the field of defense of the Western region, criminal proceedings were initiated under Part 2 of Article 414 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine regarding violation of the rules for handling weapons, ammunition, explosives or other substances and objects that pose an increased danger to the environment, if this caused bodily injuries to several people.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that a series of explosions were heard in Khmelnytskyi on the afternoon of July 31<\/a> , despite the absence of an air raid alert in the region. Subsequently, the command of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that on July 31, an explosion with a subsequent detonation occurred on the territory of a training ground of one of the military units in the Khmelnytskyi region<\/a> . The circumstances of the incident are being established, information about the injured and dead is being clarified.<\/p>\n

Recall that after the Russian attack in Vyshneve, evacuation points were opened for residents who wish to leave the community<\/a> . Subsequently, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that during the Russian attack on the night of July 6 in Vyshneve, Kyiv region, an ammunition depot of one of the enterprises of \u201cUkroboronprom\u201d was hit<\/a> . According to him, a criminal case was opened after the tragedy, and personnel decisions are expected in the concern.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky instructed the Security Service of Ukraine and other law enforcement agencies to inspect defense industry enterprises after the explosion in Vyshneve<\/a> . The head of state also announced new decisions on security and the restoration of damaged facilities.<\/p>\n
