Ukraine has yet to receive a license to produce interceptor missiles for Patriot systems. The US has stated that negotiations are ongoing, but they will not have time to complete them and conclude a corresponding agreement before the beginning of winter.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by<\/a> Fox News, citing a statement by the US Permanent Representative to NATO, Matthew Whitaker.<\/p>\n

According to him, the main concern is the PAC-3 interceptor missiles for the Patriot systems. Whitaker explained that the United States strictly controls the production of these missiles and currently does not allow them to be produced outside of American manufacturers.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

At the same time, the diplomat noted that Washington is considering other options for cooperation with Ukraine and European partners. In particular, the parties are discussing joint projects that will help expand defense production and strengthen support for Ukraine.<\/p>\n

According to Whitaker, this issue has already been discussed during meetings with President Volodymyr Zelensky, representatives of the Ukrainian authorities, and companies that possess the necessary technologies.<\/p>\n

He added that negotiations are progressing, but a long-term production agreement will not be reached before the beginning of winter.<\/p>\n

The US representative also stressed that the main task now remains to provide Ukraine with air defense means as soon as possible. To this end, allies are transferring missiles from their reserves, and American companies are increasing production.<\/p>\n

In addition, the United States takes into account the risks associated with protecting defense technologies so that they do not fall into the hands of potential adversaries.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that negotiations with the American leader were productive, and among the key topics was the possibility of joint production of interceptor missiles for Patriot systems and other defense projects.<\/a><\/p>\n

As reported, the US has begun the process of granting Ukraine a license to produce missiles for Patriot systems<\/a> , moving this issue from the political plane to practical implementation.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine expects to obtain the technical ability to produce missiles for American Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems on its own by the end of 2026<\/a> .<\/p>\n

By the way, despite the statements of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky about agreements to launch the production of Patriot interceptor missiles in Ukraine, the implementation of this project may turn out to be much more difficult. One of the main obstacles is the possible refusal of the American corporation Boeing to transfer critical technologies.<\/a><\/p>\n

It should be noted that the transfer of Patriot missile production licenses to Ukraine will not allow for rapid ramp-up of production and will not impact civilian protection in the near future. It will take years to establish production facilities, train personnel, and transfer technology.<\/a><\/p>\n
