Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapaty ordered an inspection of the 225th Separate Assault Regiment after a high-profile investigation by Texty.org.ua into alleged beatings of soldiers, violence, and the use of so-called barrier detachments.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by the author of the investigation, Anna Kalyuzhna, who received a response from the Main Communications Department of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

According to her, the Military Law Enforcement Service should verify information about possible criminal orders and facts of violence in the regiment. In particular, these are statements that the command allegedly ordered to disarm the soldiers and open fire on them in case of retreat without an order.<\/p>\n

The Armed Forces of Ukraine noted that if these facts are confirmed, all those involved will be held accountable in accordance with the law.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Kalyuzhna emphasized that this is currently the only official reaction of the state to the published investigation.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“As of now, this is the only official reaction of the state to the investigation. I am not aware of any relevant law enforcement agencies opening criminal proceedings on the facts voiced by witnesses and victims in the material,” she wrote.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, on July 30, Texty.org.ua published an investigation in which servicemen spoke about beatings, illegal detention, and threats with weapons after they abandoned their positions in the 225th separate assault regiment. Journalists also released an audio recording in which a person with a voice similar to that of the regiment commander, Oleg Shiryayev, orders to shoot at servicemen who retreat without orders.<\/p>\n

Shiryayev himself, in a comment to Texty.org.ua, stated that his words were not an order to shoot at his own people. According to him, he was talking about the rules of movement between units and ways to recognize military personnel, since Russian sabotage groups could operate under the guise of Ukrainian fighters.<\/p>\n

The 225th Separate Assault Regiment also rejected accusations of using barricades during the fighting near Hulyaipol in 2025. They stated that no Territorial Defense Forces servicemen were injured due to so-called friendly fire, and the information about barricades is not true.<\/p>\n

The unit added that the 225th OSHB was transferred to Hulyaipole after the territorial defense units defending this area lost control. <\/p>\n
