The German bulk carrier Emil was damaged in a Russian missile and drone attack in the Black Sea near Odessa. After the strikes, the vessel lost its ability to maneuver and a fire broke out on board.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the publication, Russian drones attacked the bulk carrier on August 5, when it was approximately 21 nautical miles (about 39 kilometers) from the port of Odesa.<\/p>\n

The impacts caused several technical systems on the ship to fail, causing it to lose propulsion. In addition, a fire broke out on board.<\/p>\n

As DW notes, during the evacuation of the crew, a Russian drone struck another cargo ship.<\/p>\n

The Emil is flying the flag of Liberia, but is owned by the German shipping company Johann MK Blumenthal of Hamburg.<\/p>\n

According to the publication, on the same day, the Mera Queen ship, which was transporting grain and flying the flag of Guinea-Bissau, was also hit by a Russian strike.<\/p>\n
