On the eve of regional elections in Germany, Russia has intensified information operations aimed at destabilizing the political situation, undermining trust in democratic institutions, and promoting political forces favorable to the Kremlin.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by<\/a> the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

The CPD noted that, according to German intelligence services, the campaigns are coordinated from Russian territory and implemented mainly through social networks. Fake materials disguised as publications by reputable media, in particular the BBC and ARD, are used to spread fake news.<\/p>\n

According to the Center, the main goal of such information attacks is to polarize society, undermine trust in democratic processes, and create favorable conditions for supporting political forces that meet the interests of the Kremlin.<\/p>\n

The department emphasized that Russia’s interference in the electoral processes of democratic states is systemic. In particular, the Central Intelligence Agency previously reported that the Storm-1516 network, which is linked to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Russian Federation, interfered in at least seven election campaigns in different countries.<\/p>\n

In particular, the Center also emphasized that information operations remain one of the key elements of Russia’s hybrid war against democratic states. Effective counteraction to such threats is possible only if the actions of state bodies, the media, and civil society are coordinated.<\/p>\n

As a reminder , Russia has launched a large-scale propaganda campaign in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine ahead of the so-called State Duma elections<\/a> , which are scheduled to take place on September 20.<\/p>\n
