Over the next two years, Russian authorities may significantly tighten restrictions on citizens’ access to the global internet. This model is similar to the one that has been in place in North Korea for many years.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated by the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Andrey Kovalenko.<\/p>\n

According to him, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is taking inspiration from the North Korean regime, particularly in terms of control over the information space.<\/p>\n

Kovalenko claims that within two years, Russians could face widespread restrictions on access to the global internet. He estimates that the system will be built on the principle already used in North Korea, where citizens have limited access to the global internet and primarily use state-controlled resources.<\/p>\n

At the same time, as the head of the Center for Social Policy notes, most Russians do not yet understand the possible scale of future restrictions.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that Russia had likely received a new batch of North Korean ballistic missiles and could increase their use in attacks on Ukraine<\/a> . This is indicated by the resumption of the use of North Korean-made missiles after a hiatus of nearly a year.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, the 11th Congress of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League was held in Pyongyang, during which North Korean leader Kim Jong-un called on young people to support the country’s state policies and military goals. North Korea also linked youth loyalty to North Korea’s participation in Russia’s war against Ukraine.<\/a><\/p>\n
