Fuel shortages are worsening again in Russia, with residents in at least 12 regions reporting long lines at gas stations, the closure of some stations, and the lack of popular brands of gasoline.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Queues at gas stations have reappeared after the situation gradually improved throughout July. Problems are being recorded, in particular, in Krasnodar, Sochi, and Gelendzhik.<\/p>\n

At the same time, at the end of July, the Governor of the Krasnodar Territory, Veniamin Kondratyev, announced the stabilization of the gasoline situation in the region.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In the Kaluga region, local authorities explained the appearance of new queues by increased demand before the weekend and the desire of motorists to refuel.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In Smolensk, a number of gas stations stopped selling AI-92 and AI-95 gasoline. At other gas stations, car queues formed, sometimes blocking intersections.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Problems have also returned to Rostov-on-Don, where some gas stations have stopped operating. Queues and fuel shortages are being recorded in Tambov, Tula, Ulyanovsk, Penza, Saratov, Ryazan and Voronezh regions, as well as in Primorsky Krai.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In some regions, gas stations have imposed restrictions and are only releasing no more than 30 liters of fuel to one driver.<\/p>\n

The fuel crisis in Russia began to worsen in early June amid Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries. Since the beginning of the year, the Defense Forces have struck at least 26 enterprises.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

By the end of July, only eight refineries had resumed full operation. Another 11 enterprises had partially resumed production, while seven plants remained idle.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to EA Analytics, Russian oil refining volumes have fallen to 3.6 million barrels per day, the lowest since May 2002 and about a third below the seasonal norm.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Amid the shortage, the Russian government banned fuel exports and increased gasoline imports from Belarus 25-fold. Russia also began purchasing gasoline from India and Morocco.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Russian authorities have also relaxed fuel quality requirements. Initially, some refineries were allowed to produce Euro-3 gasoline, and later the requirements were lowered to Euro-2, which Russia banned back in 2013.<\/p>\n

The Russian Ministry of Energy stated that the relaxed requirements for gasoline quality will be in effect until July 1, 2027.<\/p>\n

As is known, Ukraine has significantly expanded its capabilities to launch long-range strikes on Russian territory<\/a> , which, according to journalists, has become one of the key factors in changing the nature of the war. At the same time, despite the successes of Ukrainian drones and missiles, the country remains vulnerable to Russian air attacks on the eve of winter.<\/p>\n

Recall that in July, Belarus sharply increased the supply of gasoline and diesel fuel to Russia. The reason was the fuel shortage that arose after Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian oil refineries.<\/a><\/p>\n
