On the night of Wednesday, August 12, Novorossiysk in the Krasnodar region of the Russian Federation was subjected to a massive drone attack. Russian air defenses were on duty for several hours, and local authorities reported damage to residential and commercial buildings due to falling debris. Occupied Crimea was also hit, with explosions in a number of settlements causing power outages.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The attack on Novorossiysk is reported by Russian monitoring channels and local authorities.<\/p>\n

According to OSINT monitoring, the attack on the city lasted for over five hours. Numerous explosions and air defenses were heard in Novorossiysk. The mayor of the city confirmed damage to several residential buildings, a commercial building, and a construction site due to falling debris from downed drones.<\/p>\n

According to local residents, a fire broke out in the central part of the city, with smoke and flames visible over the area. Eyewitnesses also complained of a strong smell of burning. The cause of the fire and the exact location of the fire have not yet been determined.<\/p>\n

The Russian side also claimed an attack by unmanned boats. Some Russian sources also reported the possible use of missiles, but this data has not yet been independently confirmed.<\/p>\n

Novorossiysk is one of Russia’s key port centers on the Black Sea. It is home to a large seaport, through which significant volumes of Russian exports pass. In addition, the city is home to military facilities of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.<\/p>\n

At the same time, a large-scale attack continued in occupied Crimea. According to the monitoring channel “Crimean Wind”, explosions began to be heard in various areas of the peninsula on the evening of August 11. There were reports of drone movements and air defense operations in the areas of Sak, Kerch, Yalta, Yevpatoria, and Sevastopol.<\/p>\n

Due to the threat, the occupation authorities blocked traffic on the Crimean Bridge. Later, explosions were heard near the Belbek and Kacha military airfields, as well as in the area of the Balaklava TPP.<\/p>\n

In addition, a number of settlements reported power outages. Power outages were recorded in Simferopol, Saki, Yevpatoria, Mykolaivka, Berehove, Peshchane, and Uglovoe. There were also problems with electricity in Sevastopol.<\/p>\n

Monitoring resources reported that electricity supply periodically disappeared and was restored in various areas of Crimea. The occupation authorities did not publicly specify the causes and extent of damage to the energy infrastructure.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, in Russia, on the morning and night of August 11, a series of large-scale fires were reported at industrial facilities in several regions at once<\/a> . The fires were recorded at the Komsomolsk Oil Refinery in the Khabarovsk Territory, on the territory of the Wildberries logistics complex in the Voronezh Region, as well as in Orsk and Angarsk.<\/p>\n
