On August 7, 2026, the Borodyanskyi District Court of Kyiv Region found Russian serviceman Vitaly Razuvaev guilty of violating the laws and customs of war during the occupation of Kyiv region in 2022. The court sentenced him in absentia to 10 years in prison.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> in the materials of the criminal proceedings.<\/p>\n

Razuvaev, born in 1975, a native of the Saratov region of the Russian Federation, served in the so-called international brigade “Pyatnashka”, which was part of the 100th separate motorized rifle brigade of the Russian army. He was a company commander and had the call sign “Zima”.<\/p>\n

The crime occurred on March 5, 2022 in the village of Lubyanka, Buchansky District. Russian military personnel entered the territory of the enterprise, where two of its owners and two employees were located due to the inability to evacuate.<\/p>\n

The occupiers opened fire with automatic weapons through the metal doors, then took people outside and forced them to kneel in the snow for about 30 minutes. They took the civilians’ phones and documents, and then took them to an abandoned building for interrogation.<\/p>\n

The interrogation was conducted personally by Razuvayev. The victims were later able to recognize him because he did not hide his face. According to their testimonies, the occupier also threatened people with shooting, sending a cartridge into the chamber of the weapon.<\/p>\n

After interrogation, the civilians were kept in the cold for several more hours. At night, they were forced to stay in an unheated room, where the temperature dropped below zero. The occupiers gave only one dry ration per four people.<\/p>\n

On the morning of March 6, Razuvayev ordered the hostages released and returned their passports. At the same time, the Russian military confiscated the civilians’ mobile phones.<\/p>\n

The court found Razuvayev’s actions to be a violation of the laws and customs of war under Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The verdict was passed in absentia, since the convict is on the territory of Russia.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, law enforcement officers reported suspicions to three militants of the Russian group Igor Bezler (“Bes”), who are suspected of torturing and ill-treating a Ukrainian volunteer captured in 2014<\/a> .<\/p>\n

As reported, law enforcement officers have identified a Russian serviceman suspected of raping an underage girl in the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region<\/a> . He was informed in absentia of suspicion of committing a war crime.<\/p>\n
