It was then that the relevant provision of the EU Council decision came into force.

According to the new requirements, temporary protection can be granted to men who confirm their military service in Ukraine.

The German Ministry of Internal Affairs explained that applicants must provide evidence of legal departure from Ukraine or documents confirming exemption from military service.

At the same time, the changes do not apply to Ukrainian men who were in Germany until July 31, 2026 and have already received temporary protection.

For them, as for other Ukrainians who enjoy this status in Germany, temporary protection will be automatically extended until March 2028.

Earlier, the Council of the European Union officially extended temporary protection for Ukrainians who left the country due to the full-scale Russian invasion. At the same time, additional conditions were introduced for new applicants.

As a reminder, since August 5, dozens of Ukrainian men in the Czech Republic have been denied temporary protection status . The reason was that they could not confirm the fulfillment of their military duty to Ukraine.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , X , Telegram , and Instagram.

Ukrainian men aged 23 to 60 who arrive in Germany after July 31, 2026, must prove that they have fulfilled their military obligations in Ukraine or have legal grounds for exemption in order to receive temporary protection.
