In the Ivano-Frankivsk region, law enforcement officers detained a senior lieutenant from the district’s Transport and Communications Center and Special Purpose Department. According to investigators, he assaulted a subordinate soldier while intoxicated. The victim required surgery.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The State Bureau of Investigation reported this.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred on the night of August 13. According to investigators, the deputy company commander arrived at the military base drunk and decided to discipline a 45-year-old soldier from Lviv who was on duty.<\/p>\n

The officer humiliated his subordinate, demonstrated his superiority, and used physical force against him. As a result of the beating, the soldier suffered a closed rupture of the left acromioclavicular joint.<\/p>\n

Around five o’clock the victim was taken to the hospital, where he was scheduled for surgery.<\/p>\n

Eyewitnesses and a medical examination confirmed that the officer was intoxicated. His blood alcohol level was recorded at 0.69 ppm.<\/p>\n

Law enforcement officers detained the serviceman and charged him under Part 5 of Article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine \u2013 abuse of power or official authority by a military official under martial law.<\/p>\n

He faces up to 12 years in prison.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, the National Police is intensifying its investigation<\/a> into abuses at the TCC during booking and operation of the VLK. <\/p>\n
