US President Donald Trump said that after defeating Iran, he plans to declare the Strait of Hormuz as US territory.<\/strong><\/p>\n

CNN reports<\/a> this.<\/p>\n

According to Trump, the United States has already established a blockade of the strait and is monitoring the passage of ships. He declared that no vessel will be able to pass through the waterway without American permission.<\/p>\n

At the same time, implementing the declaration to convert the international waterway into US territory would require Washington’s continued military presence in the region. Tensions around the strait remain high, and shipping has been significantly reduced as a result.<\/p>\n

The Strait of Hormuz is strategically important for the global energy market, as significant volumes of oil from the Persian Gulf countries pass through it. Due to the de facto blockade of shipping, global oil reserves are depleting and fuel prices are rising.<\/p>\n

Iran, for its part, does not recognize US claims to control the strait and insists on its own conditions for its full opening.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, internal divisions among Republicans are intensifying amid the protracted military action and the lack of a clear plan from party leader Donald Trump. The situation is impacting the American economy, provoking a rift between the US and Europe, and could lead to impeachment.<\/a><\/p>\n
