At the same time, diesel fuel remained available at almost all gas stations.

Fuel problems in Russia began to worsen in May, and by July had spread to almost the entire country. Reuters cited seasonal demand increases and the shutdown of several Russian refineries after drone attacks as reasons.

To increase the amount of fuel on the domestic market, the Russian authorities banned the export of gasoline and diesel, relaxed fuel quality requirements, and began importing petroleum products.

By the end of July, the situation had stabilized somewhat. In some regions, the authorities lifted or eased restrictions, but the improvement was short-lived.

In late July and early August, Russian refineries were again hit by drones, after which fuel problems began to intensify.

According to Reuters, most regions of Russia currently have severe restrictions on fuel sales, with partial restrictions introduced in 16 more regions.

The Russian government called the situation in Orenburg, Lipetsk, Tver, Krasnodar, Zabaikalsky, Primorsky, Krasnoyarsk, Oryol regions, as well as in Tuva and Khakassia the most difficult.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , X , Telegram , and Instagram.

Since the beginning of August, Russia has been hit by a second wave of fuel shortages.
