Currently, the strength of the geomagnetic storm has reached 6.7 points, which corresponds to the red level of activity. Such indicators can affect not only the well-being of weather-dependent people, but also the operation of certain communication and navigation systems.

This is evidenced by data from the British Geological Survey.

Experts from the British Geological Survey had previously warned of a possible worsening of the geomagnetic situation. The cause was a powerful coronal mass ejection on the Sun, which was recorded on August 14. It was expected that the main blow of solar plasma would fall on August 18.

Initially, scientists predicted a G2-level magnetic storm, but geomagnetic activity turned out to be stronger. The storm has now reached a magnitude of 6.7, which is already a strong magnetic storm.

Experts note that after the main wave passes, the situation will not stabilize immediately. In the coming days, the Earth’s magnetic field will remain disturbed, and new surges of activity are possible on August 19-20.

An additional risk factor is coronal holes on the Sun, from which streams of solar wind are directed into space. According to forecasts, they could reach Earth in the coming days and provoke a new wave of geomagnetic disturbances.

In addition, another coronal mass ejection occurred on the Sun on August 16. If part of it reaches our planet, the geomagnetic storm could last until the end of the week.

Most often, during strong magnetic storms, people complain of headaches, fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, irritability, and blood pressure fluctuations. People with cardiovascular and neurological diseases are especially sensitive to such changes.

Doctors advise to rest more on days of increased geomagnetic activity, avoid stress, follow a drinking regimen, and not overload the body with excessive physical exertion.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , X , Telegram , and Instagram.

On Tuesday, August 18, a powerful magnetic storm covered the Earth.
