In the Rivne region, a court has remanded a 17-year-old boy in custody for causing a fatal traffic accident while under the influence of alcohol. The accident killed a 26-year-old pregnant woman and her unborn child. The deceased is survived by three young children.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by the Rivne region police.<\/p>\n

The tragedy occurred on the evening of August 14 in the village of Morochne. According to the investigation, a 17-year-old resident of the village of Loknytsia, driving a VAZ car, hit a 26-year-old local resident who was walking along the side of the road in the opposite direction.<\/p>\n

After the accident, the woman was taken to the hospital in serious condition. She was 37 weeks pregnant. Despite the efforts of doctors, neither she nor the baby could be saved.<\/p>\n

Police determined that the driver was intoxicated.<\/p>\n

“According to the examination, the Drager device showed 1.9 ppm of alcohol in the driver’s blood,” the police reported.<\/p>\n

In addition, it turned out that the young man had never received a driver’s license. He had purchased the VAZ car only about two weeks ago with his own money.<\/p>\n

Investigators informed the minor of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of traffic rules by a person in a state of intoxication, which caused the death of a person.<\/p>\n

The court supported the investigation’s request and chose a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention for 60 days without the right to post bail.<\/p>\n

“The minor is in a detention center in accordance with the court’s decision,” law enforcement officials noted.<\/p>\n

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. If the guy is found guilty in court, he faces five to ten years in prison.<\/p>\n

As reported, an accident involving 2 BMW cars occurred in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv on August 17. As a result of the collision , one of the cars entered the summer terrace of the establishment and overturned, injuring the 36-year-old driver.<\/a><\/p>\n
