Greece is considering moving a Patriot missile battery from the island of Karpathos to Crete, where the system is to bolster defenses at the Souda naval base amid reports of possible Iranian strikes on US-linked targets in Europe.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Greek Ministry of Defense is considering relocating Patriot, which was previously deployed to the island of Karpathos after the US and Israeli attacks on Iran.<\/p>\n

The question of redeploying the system arose after reports that Tehran could attack US-linked targets in Europe if Washington increases military operations in the Persian Gulf.<\/p>\n

The Gulf of Souda in Crete is home to a large military base used by Greece and NATO.<\/p>\n

According to the publication, if the military concludes that there is a serious threat to the base, the Patriot battery may be transferred from Karpathos to Crete to strengthen its air defenses.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that Iranian authorities are discussing the possibility of strikes on American military facilities in Europe if the US escalates further against Tehran.<\/a><\/p>\n
