At least 13 people were killed and 40 others were injured in a massive Russian nighttime attack on Kyiv and the region. Russian forces attacked the capital with missiles and drones, and the attack itself lasted almost nine hours.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was announced<\/a> by Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Koretsky.<\/p>\n

According to him, Russian strikes damaged residential buildings and a children’s hospital in Kyiv. The injured are being provided with necessary medical assistance.<\/p>\n

“As of this moment, at least 13 people are known to have died. My sincere condolences to their families and loved ones. Another 40 people were injured and are receiving the necessary assistance,” Koretsky noted.<\/p>\n

The consequences of the attack were recorded not only in the capital. In Boryspil, Kyiv region, the Russian strike fell on food warehouses and Red Cross facilities. Fires are still burning in the area, which are being extinguished by rescuers.<\/p>\n

In addition, at night, Russian troops attacked civilian infrastructure in the Odessa and Chernihiv regions.<\/p>\n

As of now, 462 rescuers from the State Emergency Service are eliminating the consequences of the Russian attack throughout Ukraine using 116 units of special equipment.<\/p>\n

Koretsky thanked the military, rescuers, medics, and police officers who are working at the scene of the attacks and helping the victims.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, on the night of Thursday, August 20, Russian occupation forces launched a massive strike on Kyiv, using strike drones, as well as ballistic and cruise missiles.<\/a> The Sviatoshynskyi, Solomyanskyi, and Darnytskyi districts of the capital suffered the greatest destruction.<\/p>\n

As reported, Kyiv has declared August 21 a Day of Mourning for the victims of the massive Russian attack<\/a> . Flags will be flown at half-mast in the capital, and entertainment events will be banned.<\/p>\n
