Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin Bosacki stated that the reburial of Stepan Bandera and Roman Shukhevych on the grounds of the National Pantheon could seriously worsen Ukraine’s relations not only with Poland but also with other European countries.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the Polish diplomat, every nation has the right to determine its own heroes. At the same time, Bosatsky held Bandera and Shukhevych responsible for mass crimes against the civilian population.<\/p>\n

He also claimed that Poland had carried out a “diplomatic action” during the reburial of Yevhen Konovalets, described as a less controversial figure. According to him, there were virtually no representatives from EU diplomatic missions at the ceremony.<\/p>\n

Bosatsky argues that honoring OUN and UPA figures associated with the events of 1943-1944 could create serious problems for Ukraine in its relations with Europe and in the process of European integration.<\/p>\n
