The attack occurred after a conflict with a 34-year-old resident of Lublin, who was drunk after a wedding and began asking the Ukrainians where they were from. After that, he called other men and declared that they were Ukrainians.

This is reported by the Onet publication.

Polish law enforcement officers and the prosecutor’s office spoke about the incident that occurred on the night of August 2 on Malczewski Street. According to the investigation, at first three or four more men were with the Ukrainians, and later others joined the beating. As a result, the three Ukrainians were attacked by eight Poles.

Tomasz G., 34, came to Radom from Lublin for a wedding. After the celebration, he stayed in the city and began wandering the streets.

On Malchevsky Street, a man met three Ukrainians, about 20 years old. He struck up a conversation with them and asked where they were from.

According to the prosecutor of the Radom District Prosecutor’s Office, Cezary Oltarzewski, a verbal argument broke out between the men.

“They, in turn, told him that he wanted to give them a lecture about Volhynia,” the prosecutor told the MójRadom publication.

After that, Tomasz G. turned to several strangers crossing the street and informed them that they were Ukrainians.

“They reacted very spontaneously to this, and the attack began,” Oltarzhevsky noted.

Several more men later joined the beating, bringing the total number of attackers to eight, while there were three Ukrainians.

During the attack, the Ukrainians suffered numerous injuries, mainly to the head and face. They were examined by forensic experts.

After the beating, Tomasz G. did not stay where he was. According to the prosecutor, he “ordered a taxi and left as if nothing had happened.”

Police later identified and detained him. The man was taken to the prosecutor’s office, where he was charged with using violence or unlawful threats for discriminatory reasons, as well as participating in a fight.

Tomasz G. pleaded guilty. He also told investigators that he was drunk at the time of the incident. The man is currently under police supervision. He faces up to five years in prison.

Law enforcement officers continue to identify other participants in the attack. Investigators are reviewing city surveillance camera footage. The detainee said he did not know the other men who joined the beating.

As a reminder, in Bydgoszcz, Poland, on August 14, two Ukrainian minors were attacked for speaking Ukrainian to each other . The children were subjected to threats, physical violence, and severe emotional stress, and the police are searching for the attackers.

As reported, the Center for Countering Disinformation announced a coordinated campaign in Polish social networks directed against Ukrainians .
