The Security Service of Ukraine has exposed a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who was recruited by Russian special services to collect information about Ukrainian troops in the Odessa region. The agent was supposed to use the obtained data to adjust Russian strikes on southern Ukraine.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The SBU reported<\/a> this.<\/p>\n

According to the investigation, the man came into the sights of a Russian intelligence officer after he was looking for an opportunity to quickly make money through Telegram channels.<\/p>\n

After recruitment, the agent began performing curatorial duties. He traveled around the Odessa region in a rented car and covertly photographed Defense Forces bases.<\/p>\n

In addition, the man plotted the coordinates of Ukrainian military units on Google Maps. He was supposed to pass the collected information to the Russian side for the preparation and adjustment of attacks.<\/p>\n

The SBU detected his activities before he could cause any major damage. Law enforcement officers documented the agent’s work and detained him during another reconnaissance operation near an AFU facility.<\/p>\n

During the search, a phone with evidence of cooperation with the Russians was seized from the detainee. Investigators also found a virtual crypto wallet that the man created to receive the reward promised by the Russian special services.<\/p>\n

SBU investigators informed the detainee of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – high treason committed under martial law.<\/p>\n

He is currently being held without bail. If convicted, the man faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.<\/p>\n

The operation was carried out by SBU officers in the Odessa region under the procedural guidance of the Odessa Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the Field of Defense of the Southern Region.<\/p>\n
