Russia is preparing for a possible escalation of attacks on Ukraine amid a lack of progress in talks to end the war. Moscow is reportedly considering new ballistic missile strikes on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bloomberg reports<\/a> this, citing sources.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to three sources, Russia may increase missile strikes on Kyiv, particularly the central part of the capital. Infrastructure in other Ukrainian cities may also be at risk.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Bloomberg sources say that negotiations to end the war have effectively reached a deadlock, with the sides returning to their original positions.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

At the same time, the Kremlin does not believe that sanctions or Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries and logistics will force Vladimir Putin to abandon the continuation of the war.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Moscow is also increasingly viewing Ukrainian strikes as attacks by NATO countries due to Ukraine’s use of Western weapons and intelligence.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

US efforts to end the war have also failed to yield results. According to Bloomberg, the negotiation process has slowed down, in part because the administration of US President Donald Trump has focused on the conflict with Iran.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Kremlin is also no longer counting on the agreements that Moscow expected Putin and Trump to reach during the meeting in Alaska.<\/p>\n

One of the main obstacles remains Russia’s claim to Ukrainian territories. Moscow expects Washington to pressure Kyiv to hand over the eastern part of Donetsk region. Ukraine rejects this demand.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Four other sources close to the Kremlin told Bloomberg that in the absence of progress in diplomacy, Moscow is leaning toward further escalation of hostilities.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Russia is still waiting for possible new proposals from Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, although the publication’s interlocutors assess the chances of a quick breakthrough as very low.<\/p>\n
