US President Donald Trump called CIA Director John Ratcliffe’s trip to Moscow “semi-routine,” but at the same time stated that some progress could be made as a result.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Trump said the United States is “working very hard” to end Russia’s war against Ukraine, and Ratcliffe’s visit to Moscow could potentially yield results.<\/p>\n

“Something could come out of this,” the American president said.<\/p>\n

At the same time, when asked about the purpose of the CIA chief’s trip to Russia, Trump repeated that Ratcliffe was there in “semi-root mode” and did not reveal more details.<\/p>\n

According to Politico<\/a> , during his visit, Ratcliffe warned Russian leaders against further escalation against US NATO allies, particularly Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.<\/p>\n

Also, according to the publication, the CIA director pressured Moscow to reduce military and economic support for Iran.<\/p>\n

Thus, despite Trump’s words about the “semi-routine” nature of the visit, reports of the negotiations indicate that the trip could have touched on several important issues at once: the war against Ukraine, the security of NATO countries, and Russia’s cooperation with Iran.<\/p>\n
