Russia used the upgraded 9M723-2 ballistic missiles, also known as Iskander-1000, for the first time in one of its combined strikes on Kyiv this summer. Their range reaches 550 kilometers.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to GUR, the 9M723-2 missile is part of the Bora-M complex. The Russians have increased its engine and launcher, allowing the missile to travel up to 550 km. For comparison, the range of the previous version of the 9M723-1, which is used in the Iskander-M complex, is about 390 km.<\/p>\n

At the same time, other parts of the updated missile are practically no different from the 9M723-1.<\/p>\n

Intelligence noted that recently, Russian troops have increasingly been using ballistic missiles as one of the main means of air attacks on Ukraine.<\/p>\n

The GUR noted that the Russians mostly carry out such strikes at night, and a ballistic missile reaches Kyiv in just a few minutes. Intelligence officials believe that in this way Moscow is trying to intimidate Ukrainians and force Ukraine to agree to peace on Russian terms.<\/p>\n

The GUR also published information about 140 Russian and foreign components that Ukrainian experts discovered in the 9M723 Iskander-M missile. Intelligence identified 35 enterprises involved in the production of these missiles, as well as more than a hundred of their officials and employees.<\/p>\n

Only about a quarter of the 140 identified components were manufactured by Russian companies. Another 63 components come from manufacturers in the United States, eight each from Switzerland and Belarus, four each from Germany and Taiwan, and three from China.<\/p>\n

In particular, in the flight information processing unit, which is part of the missile guidance system, out of 43 components, only five are of Russian origin.<\/p>\n

Recall, on the night of Thursday, August 27, Russian occupation forces attacked several regions of Ukraine at once with missiles and strike drones<\/a> . Explosions were heard in Kyiv, Zaporizhia, Kryvyi Rih, Kharkiv and Odessa. As a result of the attack, there were casualties and damage to residential buildings, an industrial enterprise, an educational institution and other civilian infrastructure.<\/p>\n
