In exchange for cooperation, they are allegedly promised assistance with the exchange of prisoners of war.

This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.

According to the SBU, Russian special services or individuals associated with them call relatives of prisoners, write in messengers, and make video calls. In some cases, they do this in the presence of the prisoner of war himself.

First of all, the Russians are trying to obtain sensitive information. In particular, they are interested in the locations of military facilities and units, the routes of movement of equipment and personnel, as well as the contacts and personal data of Ukrainian servicemen.

In some cases, Russian special services suggest that relatives of prisoners carry out sabotage, terrorist attacks, or contract killings. They also try to involve Ukrainians in information campaigns aimed at discrediting Ukraine.

In exchange for completing the tasks, Russian representatives promise better treatment of the prisoner or his inclusion on the exchange lists. The SBU emphasizes that cooperation with Russian special services does not affect the exchange process.

Law enforcement officers also record cases where relatives of prisoners of war are extorted money, promising to return the person from captivity.

The SBU urges Ukrainians not to agree to cooperate with representatives of the Russian Federation and participants in fraudulent schemes. In the event of an attempt at recruitment, it is necessary to contact the Security Service and, if possible, save the correspondence or recording of the conversation.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , X , Telegram , and Instagram.

Russian intelligence services have stepped up their efforts to recruit Ukrainians whose relatives are in Russian captivity.
