Kherson could be without electricity and heat for a long time this winter due to continued Russian strikes on critical infrastructure. Local authorities are urging residents, especially families with children and the elderly, to leave the city if possible.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was announced<\/a> by the head of the Kherson OVA, Oleksandr Prokudin.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to him, at night, Russian troops again bombed the Kherson CHP<\/a> . The plant suffered serious damage, so it can no longer be expected to operate normally in the winter.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This means that problems with light and heat can last not just a few hours or days, but much longer.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The authorities, together with utility companies, energy companies, and the government, are already looking for other options to provide the city with heat and electricity. However, the situation is complicated by constant Russian attacks.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Since the beginning of July, the Russians have dropped 170 guided bombs on the Kherson region – more than in the entire first half of the year. Over the past two months, the region has also been attacked by more than 1,700 strike drones.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

There has also been a significant increase in strikes with FPV drones. In the last week alone, the Russians have attacked the Kherson region with them about 6,500 times.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Due to shelling and the risk of long power and heat outages, Prokudin advises residents not to wait for the situation to worsen and to leave for safer regions if possible.<\/p>\n

People who decide to evacuate are promised help with transportation, housing, and social support. For evacuation issues, you can contact the Kherson OVA contact center at 0 800 101 102 and 0 800 330 951 or the government hotline 1548. <\/p>\n
