King Harald V of Norway died on the morning of August 28 at the age of 89. The monarch passed away at the National Hospital in Oslo at 6:35 a.m. local time.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Norwegian royal palace announced<\/a> the king’s death.<\/p>\n

The day before, Harald V’s condition had deteriorated sharply. On August 17, he was hospitalized, and on August 27, the palace announced that the monarch’s health had become very serious.<\/p>\n

In the hospital, the king was accompanied by his closest family members – his wife Sonja, his son and heir to the throne Haakon, as well as other relatives.<\/p>\n

Harald V became King of Norway in January 1991 after the death of his father, Olaf V. He reigned for over 35 years.<\/p>\n

In particular, after the death of Harald V, the throne will be inherited by his son, Crown Prince Haakon. He is first in line to the Norwegian throne.<\/p>\n
